I am a systems administrator with a lot of experience with various unixes. Since 1994 I have worked extensively with Linux. It is superior to every commercial unix I have worked with. IMO, the only reason to run any other unix is if you have legacy code which would take too long to port, or need specialised applications which only run on, say, Irix or Solaris.

I work with other unixes as well, but have a strong preference for sysV/POSIX flavours, especially Linux.

Although I have spent many years doing tech support for MS-DOS, Windows and Macintosh machines, I prefer to have little to do with them these days - getting them networked and connected to unix servers and/or the internet is about the limit of my interest in end-user machines which run operating systems which crash a million times per day.

I am in my mid-30s, have long hair and a beard, and don't make a habit of wearing suits.
